Re: How are your Musa Basjoo's doing?

I'm chuffed to bits with my basjoo. I bought it from ebay for a fiver in a truly enormous pot and planted it out this May. It has looked wonderful all year, and grown 9 pups :)

Re: the ones you cant say no to

With me it's marked down bargains  I got three tillandsia cyaneas for 50p each last week, and a very gorgeous unknown houseplant for £2.20 (found it, it's calathea crocata). This week I picked up a nice sized fatsia variegata for £5 and a calathea roseopicta medallion marked down to £3 from £20...

Re: Tad windy today

I'm sorry to see the damage you sustained Dave :( It's at times like this that I feel lucky for not having many exotics yet (and for most of those having been crammed into the conservatory already) I did find pots, leaves, and gardening bags floating on the pond and distributed all over the garden, ...

Re: A quality Trachycarpus Fortunei specimen in my area...

I too agree with the lonely comment, sometimes I wonder when I see single specimens like this if the owner got it more for the cachet of having an expensive specimen than fora n actual love of exotics/gardening. There's one that looks very similar to this in Llanelli, when I saw the picture I had to...

Re: Value Sago Palms?

Thankee Simba :D

Cannondale, thanks for the suggestion I appreciate it... however, I've lugged the plant in and out of the conservatory for 6 years in succession, and it's now too heavy for me to keep on doing it so it's staying in the ground. :)

Fantastic, thanks Simba icon_thumleft

I really wanted to see it as I love my cycad to bits and only put it in the ground this year. One more question if you don't mind, when did you wrap them?

Re: Advice to all members

Well up here - we worked it out we are living in "fuel poverty" - it does seem a bit sad to lop the tops out of some of the Eucalyptus trees I have grown from seed but the logs make a mighty good fire and the smell is enough to clear the sinuses on a polar bear! My cannas a mush as is my 23ft long ...

Re: Aldi Alocasia Polly

Post another picture when it does please Arlon, I'd like to see it as I'm considering one as a house plant being that they're cheap and easily available with a great leaf shape! icon_thumleft
