Re: Starting off colocasia esculenta

They're susceptible to frost so that's why it's recommended that they're started off indoors until all chance of frost has passed.

Re: Starting off colocasia esculenta

I put the bulbs in a container as suggested and within days they were covered in mould. Decide to shallow pot them in compost on a warm windowsill to see how they get on that way.

I'll post results as I see any progress

Re: Starting off colocasia esculenta

I agree. I'll plant it at a reasonable depth. I think it'll give it a bit more stability in the ground/pot anyway.

Thanks for the advice

Thanks. At what depth do you normally plant them?

Re: Starting off colocasia esculenta

Thanks for the reply.

When do you normally start "warming" them up? I.e what month? Also how long would you leave them and wgst stage would you plant them out?

Thanks.

Starting off colocasia esculenta

Hi all

Just received delivery of 3 colocasia bulbs and was wandering when (time of year) and how most people plant out their colocasias. Do I need to start them off indoors and provide extra heat?

Any good tips or pointers would be great.

Thanks in advance

Re: How to upload pictures!!!!

I don't even have the options or icons to post a picture on my screen. It's almost like the page isn't loading correctly on certain posts. Any ideas?

Re: Website issues. Wrong forum I know

Thanks for the reply.

I just find it odd that I've started threads with photos and been allowed to edit them but when I've tried starting or editing another thread, the icons/ options aren't even there for me to edit or upload photos.

Re: My fruiting olive tree

That's really promising news that you've managed to harvest yours. Mines trained as a standard (still can't post pictures in this thread). It was literally covered on blossom early in the year and must still have a few hundred tiny little olives. I'm surprised they haven't just fallen off the stems ...

Re: Rotting musa basjoo

Thanks for the info. I presumed that any sign of rotting wasn't a good sign and would eventually rot the rest of the stem.
