Irrigation systems
Hi all, what are forum members views on irrigation systems. I have long deep beds containing ferns and some bananas + cannas along with other plants. Do soaker hoses or drip systems work best? Are there any particular products that people would recommend and do such systems work well in large garden...

Snapped banana
Hi all,
So I have a few bananas indoors beside windows. Most are doing fine and growth has slowed a bit but one which I believe is a musa velutina has fallen victim to a toddler and had its pseudo stem snapped at the base. Is it brown bread or can I retrieve the situation?

Growing banana from dormant
Hi all, I bought a few banana corms and am trying to wake them up. I’ve planted them in a free draining mix (although it’s holding moisture more than I thought it would) and most are not showing any action after 1 week. They are in a south facing window of my home which is at a constant temperature ...

Which is the top
Hi all, I’ve bought a load of colocasia, alocasia and xanthasoma from the good people at Himalayan gardens . I’m new to these plants and I’m not sure which end of the bulbs and rhizomes are the top. Some have a growth on one end and a flat end on the other. I’m not sure if the growth is the new plan...

Greetings from Ireland
Thanks for the welcome all. I plan to start the plants off inside as I mentioned but the move them onto a glass fronted balcony which is a suntrap. I have a cold frame up there so that will be my inbetweeny phase. I may even put some out during the day and take them back in at night. Sure we’ll see ...

Greetings from Ireland
Hi all, congrats to all on a fantastic forum. I’ll spend the next few nights working my way through some of the threads on various plants and issues. I’m a relatively new gardener and a fan of indoor and outdoor gardening. I have a predominantly shady garden with heavy clay soil which I a trying to ...
