Red Banana Damaged by Sun

That's good to know, thank you so much.

I suppose I should have introduced it to the sunlight & heat by first putting it into the shade until it had acclimatised.

Will, at the start of next winter, cutting it back to within a few inches of the soil regenerate the plant?

Red Banana Damaged by Sun

Hello, This is my first banana plant which I believe to be the Musa (not sure though). I'd kept in indoors through the winter and it was growing really well forming new leaves constantly. Being new to this plant I'd read that it loves to be in full hot sun so when we have the first really hot days I...

Tacca (Batflowers)

Thank you for your prompt reply; that's where I got my rhizomes from.

I'm just trying to find out if I'm looking after them correctly & how long it might be before I see sings if growth.

I planted them on the 21st of March this year.

Tacca (Batflowers)

I have some Tacca plants (rhizomes) and have them in pots with a lot of tree bark, Orchid compost and a little seed compost. I'm happy with the soil mix as when I water them the water runs, almost, straight through. I'm also keeping them just moist as the last time I tried to grow them I kept them t...

Tropical Wiltshire

Hello, I have always enjoyed growing tropical/unusual plants; mainly carnivorous but I really enjoy (as I said) something different. I moved to Wiltshire from Essex and now have a much larger garden and a greenhouse. I'm 69 years old; a retired engineer (toolmaker), am married and enjoying life here...
