Re: HollyGate

Last time I went ( a couple of years ago) it was then closing down. They were digging up & selling plants from the main collection, a lot had already gone. Although they did say they weren't going to get rid of it all, but some of it was far to big to move anyway. So don't know what happened to what...

Lovely Broms. I grow a few Tillandsia's but have to take them inside over winter but I guess yours stay out all year round.

Re: Arundo donax's

if i remember rightly, melissa had a corking photo with hers icon_thumright icon_thumright  I'm afraid after this winter our plant isn't looking quite so good now. After time they do trend to wonder, then the centre dies which spoils the look of the plant and it's a butter to dig up and replan...

Re: Agave nigra

In your thread about the Rain Shelters in the Overwintering section, you posted a photo of some Cacti under one of the rain shelters you built, how are those cacti looking now? I hope you don't mind my curiousity as I'm a big fan of cacti and have been for many years, was just wondering how they fa...

We have had A weberi & A franzosinii planted outside here for the past 4 years, with winter protection. Both great plants, the weberi did have some damage on the lower leaves this winter but the franzosinii sailed through. They are both growing already A weberi DSC04799.JPG A franzosinii, it's a fab...

Re: Tree Fern Food, feeding

We never feed ours, but water loads and loads, last year the fronds were huge, 7ft plus on the Dicksonia antarctica's.

Treeferns aren't fed in the wild and get enormous, so I'm not entirely convinced they need feeding and how much it helps. icon_scratch

Re: Another tetrapanax query .

Welcome to the forum, nice to have you on board icon_thumleft How you treat the main plant will depend on how you want the plant to look. If you want to end up with huge leaves then remove some of the buds, maybe leave just 2. But if you want a bushy plant with smaller leaves then leave them most of...
