Each one has grown five pups, so it is getting a bit crowded with their big leaves. Is thinning out something I...

Is it possible to force a Basjoo to pup

I've a couple of reasonable sized ones I am overwintering indoors but could really do with half a dozen. is it possible to force them to pup at this early stage. I remember someone beating up an Ensete, is there a similar technique with Basjoo?

Rotting musa basjoo

Hi all, first post on here..... I have a 3 to 4 year old musa that I wrapped up for winter a few months ago. I've just been out to check on it to find a bit of a mushy mess on the outer stem of the plant. I didn't want to cut the plant to the base as I'd like to retain some height so I've stripped b...

Musa basjoo

First two winters that I had this in London I didn't protect at all. It died back to the ground, but eventually sprouted again in spring. Last winter I caged the main stems in chicken wire and packed with straw, which worked pretty well. This year it's grown so wide with so many stems, I'm thinking ...

... is already showing. But since it is getting colder there's no chance to leave it outside and see it flower. Has anyone tried digging up a musa basjoo and let in flower inside during winter? Rudy

Musa Basjoo in Pots when to bring indoors

All of my musa basjoo are in pots and still outdoors at present as temp still good at 17day / 11 night.

When do I need to take them indoors (Unheated Garage)?

Will they still be ok for a few more weeks outside providing day temps still around 10 - 15c?
