Re: Small plastic type greenhouse?

Hello
Am I right in thinking it is not just the cold that kills, but plants being wet and then a frost coming along? So would a plastic greenhouse protect plants by simply keeping them dry, so when a frost comes along, they are not damp and the frost will not freeze them( no water to freeze)?

Cheers

Re: Yucca gloriosa 'bright star'

Hello
I believe I saw these at my local garden centre Sunday, they were £8.99 for a small plant. I did not know what they were or whether they were hardy or not, will go back this weekend and grab a couple if they are the same as above.

Re: Yucca gloriosa 'bright star'

Hello
how hardy are they? They are very nice. I have a bunch of green yuccas out front which live under my huge conifer tree which have never been protected and breeze through winter with no protection. Do not know what they are, will take a photo.

Small plastic type greenhouse?

Hello I do not have room for a proper greenhouse or Polytunnel . I want something just to stand some pots in over winter to protect from snow and frosts. My banana plants(Musa Basjoo) and my small purple Cordyline and a smallish Trachycarpus fortunei and a few other things, fushias etc and ferns. I ...

Re: Too late to buy a Dicksonia antarctica and pot up?

If I can keep the fern tree alive I may buy a couple more next year. My brother used to have 1 but it died last winter as he forgo...

Re: My Garden July 2011 after the rain

Hello thanks again for all your kind comments. I believe Abutilons are tender plants and normally need protection, but mine is on a South facing wall which I guess helps it from freezing. I regret buying fake plants now so have taken my fake palm out of my tall pot( which now has tree fern in it) an...

Re: Cordyline - Bounce Back Ability

Hello yes Cordylines are tough as old boots. Only one I had that pegged it and did not reshoot as yet is my purple one ;-(. Green ones are all coming back though. Seen them all reshooting on roundabouts and people's gardens too. I love them. I stuck a flower pot over mine last winter when we had all...

Hello
thanks very much. I hope the pot I put the tree fern in will be ok as it is tall but narrow.
