Re: My new £5 Trachycarpus Fortunei

There were about 50 odd, s...

Re: Jumbo Plug Carex Red Rooster ready to plant in garden?

I thought comans and red rooster were different? You are correct Rachel, I should have googled the name before replying. 'Red Rooster' is a form of Carex buchananii and not Carex comans. Having said that, they are very similar in appearance and requirements. The RHS manual says that C. buchananii i...

Hello
looks really lush. Love your tree ferns and how you have placed a statue on your trimmed Cordyline trunk. A very tidy garden too. icon_thumright icon_thumright icon_thumright

Re: Jumbo Plug Carex Red Rooster ready to plant in garden?

I think cutting seed heads off will help Rachel, from experience though the seedlings are quite easy to pull out when it happens, they used to annoy me when seeded into lawn, but you have no grass at front so won't be an issue. They prefer moist soil, I think they will look good in your garden :D H...

Re: Jumbo Plug Carex Red Rooster ready to plant in garden?

Rachel, I think this is a bronze form of Carex comans which is as tough as old boots so you should be able to plant them out straight away. They self seed in my garden and seem to particluarly like growing on the edge of the drive and the cracks between paving. Hello I thought comans and red rooste...

Jumbo Plug Carex Red Rooster ready to plant in garden?

Ebay only had plugs too and could not find larger plants elsewhere. Should be getting them either today or tomorrow. Can I plant these straight into...

Re: Want to know the number of male to female gardeners

I think there will be more male to female. I am guessing 80% male and 20% female. My hubby does not garden but he does help me do hard things like very heavy digging or lifting heavy pots if I ask him. He is getting fed up with me keep buying plants and making borders over though. So after I have ma...

I keep thinking about this. Are there more male or female gardeners on here? Love to know the numbers.
