LARGE PHOENIX CANARIENSIS PALMS IN THE UK.

Unlikely to have been the Beast from the East, my much smaller Phoenix canariensis_CIDP in less urban heat and more exposed, didn't show any damage.

LARGE PHOENIX CANARIENSIS PALMS IN THE UK.

Nice specimen. Is the pile of dead fronds nearby a casualty from the beast from the east or frond prunings not yet recycled?

LARGE PHOENIX CANARIENSIS PALMS IN THE UK.

So many good pictures lost since 2014 :(

This one in Walworth may not look large, but it still reaches the top of the 2nd floor window:

Be careful of buying by height. Diameter of the trunk shows age, rather than length of leaves. My preference would be a short chunky one.
Ditto to this - a tall slender one will be etiolated (grown in low light levels), weak and poor quality.

... and looks healthy. If anyone else is interested I'd get one quick as they won't last long. The price is £17 which I don't think is bad at all. Phoenix canariensis_CIDP.jpg

Have we no forum members in those areas? Also the largest J Chilensis in Europe growing outside in northern Europe is found in the Channe...
