Spring clean

The great weather today encouraged me out there to get cracking on the spring tidy! Unwanted bamboos trimmed, evergreens and dogwoods pruned and last years basjoo and Gunnera leaves cleared away. Only a few jobs done but I can already see a big difference!

Unwrapped the Gunnera today and Oh My God its gonna be a Monster this year! Put some fleece over it again that will stay there till May ish.
Sadly I think I`ll have to machete it some time as it will just be too big. :shock:

Hi

Sensible for me would be to buy 5 lol not one.I have looked today and they are all looking ok.ill try to put a different pic on.

mine in a 10ltr pot bought last year only had one growing point now it has five sprouting crowns so they bulk up fast. one should be enough.

Very nice! It's a wonder it doesn't suck that pond dry! :lol: Mine is already growing rapidly in the greenhouse, can't stop it now!! Wish I'd bought another one, as found them at a local GC for £10.99 in a 15L or more pot with really large foliage, but took the sensible route and only bought one! ic...

... Mine are outside all the time covered with their old leaves but they are older. Buy chicken pellets and use a handful when planting your gunnera=works a treat! A word of caution with chicken pellets ,I lost three fair sized gunnera for no apparent reason,the only common factor was chicken ...

They will be happier being outside (better light, and air), just not on cold nights :)

Best not to put them out (or rather best to bring them in) if there is frost, as the new growth is sensitive to cold
