Best indoors or out? (New Chamaerops)

I am hopefully taking delivery of a small Chamaerops humilis this week. It's only 30 - 40cm tall. Ebay auction doesn't state if it's been outside or not so would it be safer to keep it indoors til spring or plant it straight outside?

Chamaerops Humilis sulk forecast?

... a cover there. After banging the end with the drain rod 'worm' and listening for the banging, my neighbour discovered it... right underneath a chamaerops humilis that has been innocently sitting there since 2006. Unfortunately, I had to leave at this point to meet my Dad, but my neighbour carefully ...

Chamaerops Excelsior

What do peeps know about this? Is it as hardy as 'humillis'?

The reason I ask is I found a garden centre selling a few of these along with well trunked Cordyline's and a few others. They where about 5ft tall in a big pot but I thought a good buy at £54!
