Unlikely to have been the Beast from the East, my much smaller Phoenix canariensis_CIDP in less urban heat and more exposed, didn't show any damage.

Be careful of buying by height. Diameter of the trunk shows age, rather than length of leaves. My preference would be a short chunky one.

There are some really nice large CIDPs in Torquay and Falmouth plus lots of other palms as well so It would be interesting to have some pictures of them as well. Have we no forum members in those areas? Also the largest J Chilensis in Europe growing outside in northern Europe is found in the Channe...
