Ensete Glaucum (Sp?) 10 day soak
... the compost. then im unsure how to play it... presumably light is not important as its under soil anyway. i hear constant temps are inmportant for ensete. so im considering just putting all 9 pots on top shelf of airing cuboard for as many months as it takes, misting the surface of the compost ...

Chipping Musa/Ensete seeds
Hi All,
just been reading up on cannas and i wondered if given the nature of Banana seeds there is any benefit in chipping these then immersing to get them to germinate.
I also wondered if there is any point trying to start cannas, gingers or banana before christmas inside?

Ensete - followed Kris' insturctions. Nowhere's cold enough
So I followed Yorkshire Kris' excellent videos a few weeks ago and put my Ensete v. Maurelii away for the winter. The only problem is, even the coldest places (i.e. shed) are running at mins of 7-8C and max of 16-17C due to the mild weather. At the moment it ...

Over wintering Musa, Musella and Ensete in the loft.
I would like to establish if this is going to be a viable method of over wintering Musa, Musella and Ensete. If you are going to try it with any of the said plants could you say so in this thread so I can ask for your results in the spring, we can then establish if this method ...

Ensete Ventricosum Maurelii ready for winter
Following Yorkshire Kris's excellent video I have "hopefully" got my Maurellei ready for winter - STAGE 1. When I dug it up I was surprised that there were so few roots supporting this plant. As Kris recommends I used hose to wash off all ssoil from the roots. I will leave it upside down i...

Ensete's Going To Bed For Winter!
... so warm and sunny but they are on borrowed time after all, so I've taken the opportunity to start the overwintering process on these three potted Ensete's. The left hand one is a pure green ventricosum which was grown from seed this year and I've never succesfully overwintered one of these yet ...
