A Really Dumb Bamboo Question

I had a profoundly noob moment today when I noticed that some of my bamboos are behaving oddly. I can't believe that I haven't already read this information somewhere on here but.... The 2 Phyllostacys Area I have planted in the ground already look to be dying off but, on closer inspection, I notice...

Growing bamboo from seed?

Long term I would like to start introducing various bamboos into my garden. I don't want to spend a fortune on mature plants and I'm in no rush planting out in the next year or two. Will sowing bamboo from seed be an option, and if I sow them this ...

Growin bamboo in semi shade?

I know there are specific bamboos that can be bought for growing in shade, but as a general rule do they suffer stunted growth if not baked in the sun enough?.

Pot sinking a running bamboo

I did ask this is another thread but it got lost amongst the on topic banter lol. I really fancy buying some black bamboo and/or golden bamboo. Both are runners so I would need to keep them contained. Would sinking something like a 50/60 ltr pot be enough to keep them contained ...

Containing existing bamboo grove.

I seem to recall someone on here mentioning digging a trench, to create a kind of moat effect around the grove?, if so how deep & what do you backfill with or do you simply fill hole with a liner.

Bamboo advice

Will be planting out my three bamboos shortly, phy. Aurea, phy. Spectablis and phy. Aureosulcata aureocaulis. They are in pots at the moment, and was wondering whether they needed to be contained to prevent running. I remember somebody telling me that i could plant them in a large buried bucket/bin ...

Am I losing next seasons growth by bringing my bamboo indoor

My frozen potted bamboos are in the front bedroom, and a week and a half of toastiness has started the new culms rocketing, visibly each day. Am I wasting energy stored in the culms so come spring there will be no new growth? Or do ...
