Alocasia/Colocasia issues
HI, I have a Alocasia Calidora and a Colocasia 'Black Magic' (not so black, sunlight levels??) growing together in the same pot. Despite new leaf shoots coming out of Alocasia the lower leaves seem to droop and turn yellow. As for the Colocasia ...

Colocasia/ Red Murkhis
I got some of these tubers from Owen back earlier in the year and although they were a bit neglected by him I popped them in the ground in a fairly shelterd spot. They picked up a bit and the slugs had a good munch BUT they are the only tender plant left standing in the garden after all the damage b...

Trunking Colocasia ?
To my knowledge there are no trunking Colocasia, as in the Alocasia family, but during the lifting of my Colocasia Burgundy Stem clump the original plant in the clump has grown an overground rhizome. As can be seen clearly on the picture the ...

Colocasia Cultivation Facts, - my interpretation
Part One Explanation :D I've been doing some web digging, and uncovered websites, that describe Colocasia esculenta, Taro, in some detail as it is a commercial crop in many parts of the world. There is far too much for one post, so there will be a series as I mamage to ...

Colocasia Black Magic Water Feature
... with a tiny pump. The aim was to try and maintain a higher humidity. I set it up and it looked a bit plain, so had the idea of putting a Colocasia Black Magic in the barrel. I thought it would make the feature more interesting and at the same time Black Magic seem to do well planted in ...

Colocasia corm size
You might expect a very large corm/bulb to equate to a huge leaf but it ain't necessarily so. Most of the Colocasias are grown as a food crop and varieties are cultured to produce large bulbs at the expense of a massive leaves. Fortunately there are exceptions that prove the rule. :) but it's ...

Colocasia Burgundy Stem may be a run away success
I'm trying an experiment where the runners are left on the plants overwinter and they turn 'woody', ripen. Once this has happened they are cut into sections, each with a bud at a leaf scale node. I put these in the prop 2 days ago, and some have already started to sprout. Propagation in this way wil...
