looks like a phoenix roebelenii to me Jacko. you will have to bring interior for the iciness, however can be outdoor all through summer time months. caution with direct sunlight though as leaves may be badly scorched

It isn't stretched, that is how Phoenix roebelenii fronds are meant to look. If they are grown in full sun & not given enough water they can develop shorter fronds, but these are water loving palms that do best in at least dappled sunlight...

May I suggest a phoenix roebelenii.I keep mine in the house during winter and on the patio during summer.Seems to tolerate a wide range of conditions and always looks pristine.If only they were slightly hardier.

I spotted a Phoenix roebelenii yesterday growing in front of some flats on the Eastern Road in Portsmouth, not sure how long it has been planted there but it will be interesting to see if it survives the winter as it is in quite an exposed spot...

I've heard of some pot planting their palms and lifting them out before winter cutting all the extra roots right back to the pot. They then repot them in the next size up and put them back in the ground by the following summer. This obviously won't work with all varieties but I suspect P. roebelinii...

There was one outside nearby from 2006 to 2008, but succumbed in 2008 and gradually declined until the owner threw it out.
