Chamaedorea radicalis

My Radicalis got fried this year or I suppose I should say desiccated, not a square mm of green on it at all I feared the worst, however after the warm weather we have had I know have one new green leaf and another on the way! so I suppose all is well, my advice, don't plant in a windy spot.

Chamaedorea radicalis

I do have two of these so one is in the ground, this winter being it's first. Glad to say it survived the beast from the east with only small potted hardy plants standing on the soil around it. My potted one stayed in an unheated shed with an overhead skylight. Cold enough to kill a couple of large ...

Chamaedorea radicalis

Trunkless are planted out and survived -9.9C protected by a fleece bag, but the trunking one is still in a pot. As I only have the one, not about to experiment too much.

Re: Chamaedorea radicalis

Do we now have more data on the hardiness of the trunking form? I have one trunkless one and am considering getting a trunking one. Also this is listed on ebay as the trunking form, but the broad leaves would suggest it's the trunkless form... but then again it may be because it's so small. Any thou...

Chamaedorea radicalis repotting.

Anyone tried repotting these? I have two in very narrow deep pots that are going to be a pig to get out. Will they stand a bit of root disturbance or shall I split the pots. I've had them too long to want to kill them. icon_thumright

That's more like it - very informative... Thank you ! icon_thumleft
I may try mine in my heated prop which seems to keep the temp at a constant 28ish degrees. I guess I can always lower that by opening the vents right up. Cheers !

Re: Chamaedorea Radicalis - Seed question

Hi, Yes, sorry my reply wasn't much help with the original question! The seeds were placed in a mixture of approx 60% Sphagnum Moss, 20% Peat compost and 20% perlite. I too have heard they don't need a lot of heat, but mine were placed with my other seeds on top of my central heating boiler. Approx ...

Re: Chamaedorea Radicalis - Seed question

Thanks for the link Yorkshire Chris it was very helpful. I think the key is to keep the heat down a bit for good germination. Cheers

... chamaedorea species, Elegans or Radicalis do very well indoors and can be put out while there's no frost possibility. http://www.ambiusindoorplants.com.au/catalogues/indoor-plant-selection/medium-light-plants/Chamaedorea-elegans/Chamaedorea-elegans.png ...
