Alocasia root rot, causes and avoidance :)
There must be very few who have had Alocasia and not suffered root rot at some point. You know, the plant looks fine then leaves start to yellow from the oldest, and before you know it you are back to a rhizome  Rotting roots is a symptom ...

Alocasia & Colocasia in Sun or Shade ?
I have read the net and I am undecided which is better. I have planted my only small alocaisa in a damp shadier area and it is moving\growing but very slowly. I have planted a couple of colocasia's in the same bed......the mamouth is doing well but the the rest are also slow. As the sun up here is n...

Alocasia x calidora update
Here is a shot of my Alocasia x calidora in the conservatory. I normally plant it out for summer, but we have had repeated high winds so far this year, which wrecked it last year. I'll stand it outside if, or when, summer arrives.

Alocasia Yucatan Princess
There seemed to be a lot of interest in this over the winter, with people putting in orders from Amulree. I did the same, and it arrived at the end of May. I put it straight on the heated prop base to give it conditions in it's comfort zone, and within a week it was growing a new leaf. It's now by t...

Alocasia macrorrhiza leaves yellowing and drooping?(PICS+)
The leaves on my A. mac have turned yellow and a few have drooped, the plant feels solid enough. Could this be caused by overwatering/ not allowing the plant to dry out between watering? It is in my conservatory, gets sun for most of he day and temperatures between 20 and 30 most days. I'm going to ...

Variegated Alocasia Macrorrhiza
Anyone growing this one ? mine has just poked through the surface in the prop.
I think they are supposed to be much smaller than the normal form but it should be interesting, being smaller might make it a good candidate for a conservatory plant.

Awakening Alocasia
I've always kept my Alocasia's growing over winter by moving them into the house, but this year I've kept my Portidora too dry and it has gone dormant. I've repotted it into a smaller pot to avoid over watering whilst dormant and at ...

The mother alocasia x calidora is at it again!
I noticed today that my x calidora is pupping again! It was only last summer that I removed 4! This will probably explain why growth on the main stem stopped whilst my other calidora's I have kept growing over most of the winter. I wonder how many pups I will get this year?
