i had 3 basjoo and 2 sikkis too large for the garage this winter so i left them out,wish now id cut them down to 7 ft or so and put them away as i have nothing left now

radio1julie,if it has made it through,plant it where its at now. a nursery near me planted one out in a bamboo patch a few years ago and forgot it,last year the owner noticed a bright yellow thing and noticed it had flowered.

I think you will find the palm pictured is more than 6 years old Nick. They are at least 5 years old before they start to form a trunk. chief trading post was ausfern years ago according to one of the sales persons there.they still have many ausfern labels so i guess its true.would explain the massive stock of tree ferns there

the field behind us has a conservation order on it along with the woods at the end because of bats.bristol airport also has some interest but it think its the bats that get planning applications refused.long may they stay there,i hope
