Kata,
Kew is uber expensive, Ester Ranzten lives there to give you an idea, its still family territory but not quite foreign diplomats.
Its lovely, attracts plant people..... I'd like to live there myself.

Re: The area around Kew
I love the first Image housing, and the out look of trees is also great. I love the balcony type housing above. I love how clean it is everywhere. I am the worst at telling what palms are so what was that one? icon_cheers icon_sunny Kew being one of the most desirable, most expensive parts of Londo...

He only exists 'cos Dave Brown is busy these days.
The problem will be eradicated as soon as he sees it.

Re: Crews Hill today
The way I remember things is that the blue string is the Brownnii & the other Cooperii. There was some difference in the pricing, but they were a bargain....... Some pics from my FB page if you are interested. Cooperii last month https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=600595850026443&set=pb...

Re: Crews Hill today
The cycads do look excellent value, they look quite big as well, I want one myself... Rob, the Dicksonia antarctica must be at Hillside 'cos that isn't CHGC. And Sam, mistake - you should have bought the Cyatheas, there are Cooperii & Brownii there. Bought some myself last year and they are huge...

Re: Cortederia Roots
I didn't know what a Cortederia was, but do now...
Pay a young man to do it, is the only easy way I can think of.
Well that's what I'd do......

Re: Any good garden centre in North London area?
CHGC is something like 35 acres, most of us are satisfied & exhausted by the time we escape the place.
Maybe you are super human.

You can never be quite sure what there will be, occasionally you'll get a rarity but always bargains... too many unresisted bargains in my case.

Re: plants in pots
* Plants which need acid soil can be grown on our London clay. * I can grow stuff which needs super drainage by backfilling the pot with gravel. * I can move pots around. * I can bring the pots in to over winter. I do try to put as much as possible in the ground and I really do have far too much pot...

Re: Terracotta pots
That's the ones, there are square & troughs as well.
Also some have a bit of ornate decoration on the outside.
I find them a good alternative to terracotta 'cos I can lift them and they don't crack!

Re: Terracotta pots
Anybody know of any good sites for medium to large terracotta pots? Mick. Better than terracotta for large pots are Sankeys Traditional range, plastic that looks like terracotta. Even the biggest ones only weigh a couple of kilos and they don't break. About the only place you can get them is Amazon...
