Colocasia bed, winter soil warming
As an experiment I have left most of my Colocasia bed planted up over winter with a thick mulch, which has hopefully stopped the rhizomes from freezing. One of the problems we have in the UK is the late sprouting of any that do survive, so to ...

Overwintering this Colocasia black beauty
Hi everyone,
So a week ago I dug up this Colocasia Black Beauty and now have it an unheated conservatory. At the moment, after a few chilly nights, it is obviously a half decent temperature in there (especially when sunny). What is the best way to treat this now, and when it turns colder in there?

Life cycle of Alocasia/colocasia/canna
I am not sure how the life cycle of these plants work. Is there a typical amount of leaves they produce before flowering then dying? How long can you expect them to live before they die?

Grow Light for Tree Ferns/Canna/Colocasia?
Hello, I'm going to overwinter a Cyathea Medullaris and some cannas and colocasia in a room lit only by a west facing window. Can anyone reccomend a grow light suitable for these plants? For the cannas I would like one that will help the restart in March.

Colocasia gaoligongensis 2012 summer growth
These gaolis were the stolon node pups grown over the winter 2011/12, and planted out on 15th June this year. See top half of pic. Then we had a very dull, wet June and July, followed by reasonably warm August. During that time the gaolis were fed well, and the bottom half of the pic shows the stems...

Picked this one up from Amulree while on the Norwich visit a couple of weeks ago. I have heard that this is not one of the more hardy Colocasia and the instructions on the label say not to let it go below 13C (55F) or to treat as a pond marginal annual. It's in the pond margins at the moment ...

Colocasia Stolon / Runner Propagation
I've got some Stolons / Runners on some Colocasias, can I just stand a pot under them, pin the stolon down (with an upside-down U-shaped bit of wire) and it will root? or do I need to wait until it starts to point upwards and/or make a leaf? Some of the stolons are quite long, can I get several pots...
