Cyathea Medularis Container Growing

I am thinking about buying a Medularis that will come in a 10litre pot. I have a few spare 40litre pots, would it be ok to put it straight into one of these? And how long would it take to fill this container usually? I will be putting it in an unheated room of my house during winter which stays abov...

Cyathea roots

I have 3 Cyathea's (1Brownii, 2 Cooperi) & I'm toying with the idea of planting them into the ground then digging them back up just before the frosts return so I can safely over winter them. How would they handle the root ...

Anybody growing a cyathea cooperii

I am really liking this tree fern, for its slender trunk it looks fantastic, ok not as hard as the Antarctica but, with some protection i think it will be ok. Is anybody growing one? does anybody have a picture to post of theirs. And where sells them for a good price? Thank you very much in advance....

Why don't we grow Cyathea dregei?

From trawling the web this treefern seems do-able in the uk, much more than Cooperi or Medullaris for example, yet I've never seen one for sale icon_scratch Any reason for this? The following website is typical of discriptions http://www.angelfire.com/bc/eucalyptus/ ... regei.html

Cyathea Overwintering

Do cyathea`s need any light through the winter? I have two small Australis and one small Cooperi. The Cooperi is not a problem as it`s tiny so can go in the conservatory. The Australis are in much larger pots and will go either ...

Help with Cyathea Australis

Hi, I recently picked up a small (couple of inch trunk) cyathea australis on ebay. On delivery its pot had fallen onto it`s side in the box and as a result the fern does not stand straight in the pot and will not hold itself, maybe roots were slightly ...

Is anyone growing CYATHEA COOPERI?

I have always fancied getting a small one to grow on but understand they need good conditions and protection from even slight winter cold. Is anyone keeping/growing these and if so how please?

Cyathea Cunninghamii

I never did post photos of the Cyathea Cunninghamii that I grew from spores bought from Chiltern seeds. They survived winter 2009/2010 and I looked this morning, the central croziers still seem to be intact but the snow flattened the fronds ...

Cyathea Australis (cooperi) double trunk (and separating)

hi guys as some of you know i picked this Cyathea up for £20 a few weeks ago. It has a twin trunk. The problem is when the wind blows etc the fronds off each trunk tend to rub against the other, the result being that a lot of the "leaflets" ...
