With the winter being very mild I didn't wrap my Cycas revolutas until early Feb. Today was the day they were unwrapped again. They were wrapped as the forecast was for freezing winds, and these lasted for 48 hours, blasting in from the northeast. ...

I think I've ID'd my biggest Cycad

I think my largest cycad is actually not a Revoluta but a CYCAS THOUARSII (pictured below) What do you reckon? http://www.junglemusic.net/New%20Plant%20Arrivals/Cycas%20thouarsii%2015g%205%20ich%20(Large)%20(Small).JPG ...

Just came across these whilst looking online. These come from Thailand, has anyone here had a go at one of these? They do look rather nice.

Whats eating my Cycas revoluta?

Been spraying it with Plant Rescue once a week for 3 or 4 weeks. Doesn't seem to have made any difference. Should I wash the "bugs" off? The plant was bought in the sale (I'm thinking it arrived with bugs ... not seen these on anything else I have), and has been under MH lamp for 3 or 4 we...

Palm, cycad and Tree fern Grave Yard

Close to where my in-laws live is a small bungalow where an old lady used to live. Earlier this year a middle aged man moved in (possibly her son) and since then a lot of dead plants have been put in the front garden and down the side of the garage. These are several Dicksonia antarctica between 3 t...

Emperor Cycad

Has anyone tried growing the Cycas taitungensis, or Emperor or Prince Cycad, over in Britain? I know it grows as far north as Oklahoma City, zone 7, and further north as a cut-and-come-again perennial.

The Emperor is reportedly more cold-hardy (and larger) than the common cycad revoluta.

Thanks.
