Re: Concrete block decking piers.
I'm looking for the easy and good solution if that's possible. I can get these for around £6.50 delivered. http://www.wrekinconcreteproducts.co.uk ... lay-layout Same as the B&Q one's . Personally i wouldn't use them for reasons stated before. If your ground isn't solid , they will start to sin...

Scroll down to page 12 and 13 on this link, it'll give you a better idea of spans etc at varying loads. Bare in mind these tables are for stress graded construction timber but it'll give you a good idea of what your timber will support.

Re: Concrete block decking piers.
The joists are 4.8m by 145mm by 45mm the bollards are 90cm. Depending on how far apart you set the joists, a joist that depth/thickness (145mm x 44mm) will have a clear span approx 3m to 3.5m (ish). As its 4.8m long, you defo need to put a support mid span, otherwise you'll get a lot of "bounc...

Re: Hello from (the other) County Louth
Arlon, yes, it is indeed Rokeby Hall. Have you been here? Cheers, Jeff. I haven't Jeff but the architecture rang a bell with me. My Irish side hail from the South West , co Limerick. If i remember correctly, i also remember the restoration being listed on You Tube. Will have to see if i can find it...

Re: Concrete block decking piers.
B&Q have them. For what its worth Kris, its an unnecessary expense imo. They'd have to be laid on solid, level ground to start with. If i've learned anything in all my years in construction ( i helped with the Ark... ) ...Do it once , do it right.

Re: Twin stem trachycarpus fortunei
Trachycarpus's are single trunk palms. If its a "twin stem" it'll be two separate palms in one potConcreteJungle wrote: or is it all from one root?

Re: Pots for Palms
Isn't that Phoenix canariensis_CIDP on Ebay at the mo ? Yes it is the one in Cornwall on sale on ebay. The price caught my eye as it seemed high for what it is and the pot gave me an idea. Same thoughts myself. Last time i looked it was nearly £80............ That pot is totally useless for...

Re: Tetrapanax Root propagation
I do the same as FieldFest in trays of MP with clear lid on. I don't chop them as i find they're more prone to rot that way. Leave them in the longest lengths possible and don't add any other moisture , just the moisture in the MP itself. They'll start shooting along the length of the propagated roo...
