Hardiest cannas
Depends how you winter them, but all the ones I've ever had seem very hardy. They come back if left in the ground, or are quite happy neglected in a dry pot over the winter in a frost free place. Just go for the leaves/flowers that you like the look of.

Hiya - sorry for late replies .... I'd been frozen out but now re-registered!! Tatters, I have no idea (sorry!!) - I would also love to know what type it is as it seems pretty indestructible (now I've done it!). Took the Beast (and December's wet) in its stride.

I can't remember if you have clay soil or not. Is the gravel above the original soil level so you haven't created a sump?
