Green Ensete ventricosum

I've never had much success with growing these from seed. Getting them to germinate has been tricky enough but getting them through the winter even more difficult. I managed to get about 20 seedlings this year but am already down to 10 and they aren't looking too bright. Have brought them indoors wi...

Who still has an Ensete Hiniba ? Roll call

Ensete Hiniba has never been a mass produced plant, apart from Koba Koba's first introduction, and the recent pups sold by SteveW, so there are not many out there to start with, but the main question is how many people still have one ?

Here is mine

Ensete Maurelii in pots when take indoor

Like some advice when the Ensete needs to be taken indoors, all 3 of mine are small 3ft plants in pots. I have stored them in my bathroom in previous years which kept them growing, but this is not an option this year (wife). I have also ...

Ensete ventri01 rotted :-o, but lived to tell the tale :)

This is the August 2013 story of my Ensete ventri01 plant bought in 2008. It does not grow particularly large which makes it easier to overwinter and has had it's ups and downs over the years, but August 2013 was it's biggest challenge by far. ...

Ensete Maurelii sprouts pups after spring slug attack

I had a small Ensete overwintered in a 2 litre pot, which although late was doing quite well, however, like many plants it was overcome by the explosion in the slug population all hunting for succulent new shoots  The slugs ...

Ensete in Heat

Just had to drown and move it, its almost keeling over, I did put it in the hottest place.

Is it too hot at the minute?
Do I keep it in the shade?

It was in full sun and its in a pot.

Thanks!

Ensete planting time in NW Kent

This weekend is the time I have chosen to plant out my Ensete Maurelii and Montbeliardii. It is later than any year so far but spring has largely failed us this year.
