Still looking fabulous Springy and goes to show with the right plants an exotic garden can look good year round.
Whatever you choose for your patio, I'm sure it's gonna look tasty when finished.

Re: I have growth in my garden!
Lots still seem to be trying to grow here. Went down the garden today and noticed new growth on the Hemerocallis and Astelia is still growing slowly. Arum lily have made a show too and palms I dug up ready for the move which are in the seating area, have put on a bit of growth. Tree ferns are still ...

Re: Dicksonia antarctica database creation and pictures.
How much of the 8ft Dicksonia antarctica did you plant in the soil? Not a lot at all, about a foot if I remember rightly, but it was staked well and o/h tied ropes around and secured. As you know, they are a huge weight so once it was in the hole, it wasn't coming up again, so had to do it right th...

Re: Dicksonia antarctica database creation and pictures.
I agree with the combination of the 3 bad winters killing them. Rob's managed to survive 2010 but I believe they had just been planted. My two new ones that year also survived but my others all died. Crikey, I imagined it would have been the other way round, the new ones to have died first being no...

They look good at staggered sizes. I was lacking smaller ones so bought two and three ft. ones this year ready to plant out next year.

It is Rob. These past couple of Winters have only stuffed a bit of fleece in the crown as temps have been normal/good.

Re: Dicksonia antarctica database creation and pictures.
Here's mine Rob, 8ft tall, planted I'm guessing 7ish years ago, in full sun. Was growing okay up until 2009/2010 when we got a -17 in that part of the garden. Fleeced and threw a duvet over it. It had that goo half way down the trunk which was worrying, as I thought it would definitely die, but did ...

Thanks Del and Kristen
It's now potted up - see how it goes.

Yes I found out when cutting it, I got some of the sap on my hands, it was very sticky and had to give my hands a thorough wash to get it off. Luckily no reaction though.Kristen wrote:irritant / cause allergic reactions.

Re: Myodocarpus lanceolatus
It grows on Mont Mou, NC, about 700m ish. I wish it could be grown outside, as it looks an interesting plant to me. Like some others, if I try it, then I'll have to bring it into the conservatory to spend the colder months. It'll have to earn it's place in there, if it disappoints, it'll be ousted o...

Euphorbia Wulfenii
Been away all weekend and came back with a Euphorbia Wulfenii cutting, just left there sat in the car. Are these easy to take root? Anyone tried from a cutting?
