Re: Citrus in Canada

I would estimate that temps would rarely ever drop below -6°C in this region. This Meyer lemon is along a back fence with a glass panel overhead covering. This keeps the weather elements off the tree. Lemon trees don't require much heat to ripen, unlike grapefruit and oranges etc. The rest of Bob's ...

Citrus in Canada

Well, only a very small portion of Canada is capable of such a hoticultural venture. I've been to Bob's place and seen these first hand.

Re: Eucalyptus drive by.

Interesting 'vid' Barrie, :) Thanks for sharing! They are planted quite close to the building and will likely grow tall and suck the life out of the ground in the process! No worries there. All there's around is concrete and paving. The only thing that might be concerning are the grates situated ar...

Re: Cycas revoluta colour change?.

I have a nice potted Cycas revoluta that I intend on planting out next spring. I've had the thing for about 5 years and is inadvertantly featured in this video. I leave it out most of the winter, only moving it during a nasty cold weather event.

Cameras are so hi tech these days. The one I have has far more features than I could ever hope to use or learn.

Real nice one there brother ... are these things good where you're at? Over this way they need a bit of winter protection from year to year.

Re: Your daily weather blog -June 2011 onward

Troppoz wrote; "Barrie what is a 'Pineapple Express'?" Sean it's a local term for a heavy moisture system moving in off the Pacific Ocean. It's most often pushing in from Hawaii (or that general direction), hence the name, Pineapple Express. I've had to quite often Google some of the Brit...
