Fatsia - strange ladybird shaped egg+ants?
Re: Castor Oil Plant (false??) strange ladybird shaped egg+a
Fatsia with chicken pox
Is the egg thing stuck on or is it between the layers of leaf? Sometimes a grub can cause malformation and irritate the part of the leaf affected and make it malform but your pics look more like eggs of something.

It may be leaf spot.
Source- Shoot Gardening.Symptoms
- Thousands of species of fungi, bacteria and viruses cause leaf spots. There are many instances where spots on leaves are just one symptom of a disease which is causing more serious damage elsewhere.
Also be aware that other causes can lead to spots on leaves, including misdirected chemical sprays and air-borne pollutants. If the spots are 'uni-directional' and cover a large range of plants this is likely the cause. In late summer and autumn normal seasonal changes to foliage can be misleading, and some plants such as hydrangeas have spots which are entirely normal.

Tar spot (fungus)
Small, shiny, raised black spots surrounded by a yellow halo appear on upper surface. Ignore these leaf spots.

Re: Fatsia - strange ladybird shaped egg+ants?
Maybe a scale insect, such as Pulvinaria regalis? Had some of that on my Fatsia a few years ago. Fairly harmless.
Re: Fatsia - strange ladybird shaped egg+ants?
That sounds like a scale insect, then.
Re: Fatsia - strange ladybird shaped egg+ants?
Definately looks like scale insect to me, i had it on a corkscrew hazel last year. Gave it a good spraywith provado and that shifted them.
