amulree woodwardia fimbraita

Post by Mr List »

i have been reading that fern book/encyclopedia that (arlon?) gave out a few weeks back.

in that the description on a woodwardia fimbriata means the one i got from amulree cannot be the corect plant.

it says the new growth is not red tinted.

amulree only sell one type of woodwardia and it is definitely a chain fern.
guessing from the ebook it might be a european chain fern rather than a giant chain fern.

has anybody else got a woodwardia from amulree or anywhere else to compare?
i will get a picture of it tomorow if it is not still raining.

ps
in the mean time you can see it in my last frost tour vid at about 3:00mins

Can't help with the woody Mr L as never grown one bit it's one on my list.

I just wanted to add that all the credit for the book must go to Country Lover as he originally made it available. I merely passed it on to those who, for whatever reason, didn't notice it first time around.

here are some pictures of the offending article :)

quote from the book:
"Not that the new growth is not red-toned nor does the frond sport a bulbil"

and by way of comparison a fern that is supposed to be red toned on new growth:
