I think they only pup if the main growing point dies or if you go digging around the roots.

I was lucky enough to have the main stem survive the last two winters on my 2 1/2 year old plant. Had a measure and pic tonight, presently 53" (135cm) across the leaf.

So 135cm is the benchmark so far this year. Lets see if anyone can get a leaf to reach 150 cm.

Well done Bob! icon_salut

Update on Triton TRex..... the leaf that was growing in my last update has now reached 102cm, and I don't think it is fully grown yet

I removed 4 oldest leaves as these were touching the ground and smothering other plants. Leaves will be removed as they go below the horizontal.

mine looks nothing like any of these ones.

how hardy is the plain tetra-non-rex, just incase?

I think the standard Tetrapananax Paprifer has the same hardiness just smaller leaves, AndyC grows it so maybe he'll chip in.

Just had a measure of my babies again, biggest leaf now is 112cm. I'm going to have to get a picture on of how mad it's gone following last winter as I'm sure I've a particularly nasty specimen  .

The stick in Jacks hand is last years trunk that I haven't got around to chopping out yet  , but as you can see it's well away already and with a better winter this time around should be back to behemoth next year  .

leave the trunk, adds to the natural wild look you have cultivated.
