i have a few cordyline australis and some of the botton leaves have gone brown and dry, should i remove them or leave them on ? none of the cordys have a trunk/stem yet.

They should be ok removed but wait for a few more member advisors Jako.

Up to you bud, I think a skirt of dead leaves looks nice in the right garden it looks more natural but then it looks more tidy without them.
if they are brown removing them wont do any harm.

I always remove them, they pull away easily enough, I am all for the tidy look The plant does'nt need them anymore, I'd say its personal preference .

old lower leaves go brown and I carefully cut them off if they are not easy to pull off. The old lower leaves are what forms the trunk. Sounds like your plants are now forming trunks.
