Re: First Brug Flower of the season ;)
i thought my brug that i had kept dormant over winter was well behind but if you have only just got your first flower then i may only be 2-3 weeks off
ps
why do you keep your brug as a single stem to such a height?

Lovely Dave I'm waiting with baited breath for mine to do something I may have a long wait they were knocked back hard over winter
Re: First Brug Flower of the season ;)
yea, they certainly can't hide those flowers to long eeh?
I didn't notice mine was blooming(although I had seen the
immature flower on it earlier)anyway, like you said.
Easy to follow your nose on these!
Not sure what kind mine are, they are almost 7' tall now
but I wish I could get them covered with blooms like in
the pics you see of them!

Height is the most important thing unless you want the lay on the ground to see the flowers They look best from below, and the more height you have the better they lookMr List wrote:i

I remove all side shoot until it forks (flowering growth) putting all the energy into the one stem. Once it starts forking it fills out well

Had my first brug flower too this week. You're right Dave, the taller the better. I have to stand on a stool this year to smell the vanilla scent of Arborea.

Re: First Brug Flower of the season ;)
Both are in plastic pots dropped into stone pots, which are lifted and brought into the house for winter.Dave Brown wrote:Nice plants, but ere they in pots Jase? Also what are you feeding them? They have lovely dark green leaves.
This is the second year I have had them, I picked them up as 3" seedlings last year but they didn't Y until this year.
As for feeding, I was told to feed them well. They have been getting potash and Epsom salts once a week and Miracle gro every day
