Crinum X powellii

Post by sam140 »

I was wondering what the best situation is for this cape lily having newly acquired a large pot of this. I know from agapanthus growing that they do best in pots of medium fertility gritty loam. This also keeps the rootball dry overwinter in an unheated greenhouse. My africanus have seen minus 13c and are shooting strongly now. What is best. Your experience in pots and garden locations please :?:

A sunny spot will do best. And good rich soil. I grow 3 differend collors here, a white one and to pink forms.
I also grow Crinum bulbispermum here, good hardiness as it starting to grow allready after last cold Februari witrh -17C. And I have seedlings of that species.

Powellii isnt too fussy here, dont need to be in pots either, they are just as good and a whole lot less hassle when planted out.

I have them in the ground allready many, many years. Every year the clumps get bigger.
