Bedgebury Park Visit - There are still big trees in Kent

Post by Dave Brown »

I took the family out to Bedgebury Country Park near Bewl Water just off the A21 in Kent back in August. It proves ther are some big trees still standing in Kent. It was coolish at only 22C, but amongst the woodland there was no wind.

The site also has a 'Go Ape' facility with high level ropes and massive zip wire trips. A great day out if in Kent. The kids hired bikes for a couple of hours and had a great day. I must have a go at the go Ape, as it is my type of sport. I can't run much at my age but I can climb palm trees to cut fibre etc, and have no fear of heights. I fell of the leap of faith 40 feet up last year at a company event, so got a bit fitter this year and succeeded. I will love the go Ape and it is only 19 miles away.

The longest zipwire in the uk is at Go Ape in Scotland. It is a bit too cold up there for me, but the Zipwire is a major attraction so I will have to go. Once my daughter has gone to Uni I will be 50% of the vote, well make that 25% As women have a natural nag factor

I just wonder if we could create one as the lower Thames crossing.. wow a 2 mile zipwire  8)
Best regards

Today is the day to look at the big trees, as 20 years ago, last night, over 95% of local big trees were felled in the Great Storm. Bedgebury, in a valley, was more sheltered than most places
