Jardim Tropical Monte Palace - Madeira
Jardim Tropical Monte Palace - Madeira
I thought I'd put a few photos on of a garden I visited in Madeira. I'm not that great in taking photos but hope you enjoy them anyway. They are in no particular order, but quite a few being in the oriental section. There were lots of tree ferns growing there, mainly Cyathea cooperi and many many plants I could only dream of growing outside here.
The weather was mixed rain/sunshine/cloud, and thankfully the day I picked to go was a glorious day and not one drop of rain fell. I took well over 150 photos of the gardens, but have selected just a few. Hope you enjoy. Di

Oh, wow, I NEED to go there. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you Kris, it's certainly a place I would like to visit again some time in the future. So many beautiful parks and gardens to see and one of the things I noticed was how clean everywhere looked. We stayed in Funchal and it was pristine.

You wouldn't be disappointed Greville, I never dreamed it was such a beautiful place, but only heard good reports about it.

Didn't go past Ronaldo's house but seen the church where he was supposed to be Christened. Well, in the loosest terms, the weather was atrocious that day and could barely see in front of you. I think he owns quite a bit of property on Santo Porto from what I was told.
Didn't go to the market Flounder but along one of the main streets there were white tent traders selling seeds, potted plants, bulbs etc. - and orchids Also in the grounds of the hotel there was a little lady who had a shop selling plants etc. She'd been trading there for quite a few years 'Magnolia' it was called. I went in with 15 euros, my stuff came to 12.50 euros - there was no way she was going to let me leave the shop without spending all 15 euros I spent the rest on some Watsonia bulbs.

Only 15 euros? They let you off lightly! There was another garden right up the north east slope, created by some english bloke. A real mix of exotica and wait for it.....roses!
I would definitely go back again, nice people, good food and wonderful views

Great photos Di. Did you stay at the Casino Park? I stayed there last year.
Shame you didn't get to the market, lots more choice and better prices than the little shop.
