Scuba Diving Cycad

Post by GoggleboxUK »

I have a small Cycas Revoluta which is in a 2L pot and has sat outside since Feb in to top of a ceramic Japanese style umbrella stand.

I decided to bring it in today and was shocked to find that when I lifted the pot out of the stand that the whole thing was full of water

I thought the stand had holes in the bottom so I have regularly watered the Cycad and it has been out in the rain all year. I have no idea how long it has sat with 3/4 of the pot submerged but it doesn't seem to have bothered the plant at all as it is still green and healthy looking.

I doubt I will ever worry about overwatering a Revoluta again.

OK for the summer, but keep it dry in winter!

I have a Chamaedorea [elegans] doing the same, I've been expecting it to rot but it hasn't yet.
