Post by JakoMonster »

Thought i post an update on how my Parajubaea is doing, it's had no protection at all this winter left to the elements it self, no damage apart slight brown on some leaflet tips , it's pushing out spear, pics of it below, very happy with this palm :)

Very nice specimen Jakomonster.
How long has it been planted in the ground?

Looks great, a much better palm than Syragus for that tropical look.

Nice looking palm. icon_thumright what were the lowest temperatures you had this winter? I'm trying to decide if its worth having a go with one on the Welsh coast. I usually manage -5c here.

Looks great mate. Don't think that it would stand a chance here, lucky to get a young Trachycarpus through the winter.

50/50 with my double plant. The larger is playing statue, the smaller is bent on catching up.

So coming up 1-year in the ground now and its looking very good coming out of winter.
Judging by how good it looks, it must not have seen anything below -4c
Will be very interested to see how much growth you get this summer? - keep us updated on its progress Jakomonster.

Good stuff Jack icon_thumleft Yes they are pretty tough palms, the oldest of mine has been planted out a few years & never gets any damage. They are starting to grow faster now too icon_thumleft
