Trunking Chamaedorea radicalis fruit ripening

Post by Dave Brown »

This palm was left under Fred and Barney Trachycarpus last year just with occasional splurges of water when it didn't rain. At the end of the season when I came to haul it in, I found it had flowered and had green fruit forming. It was about 5ft from my standard C radicalis which had also flowered so presuming it was that clump that pollinated it.

It was left dry in the frost free polytunnel over winter , and brought down into the Lunar Module when March was worse than Dec/Jan/Feb

I brought it out today as we have a more summery day, and the fruit is ripening icon_thumright

That's true of course! But you are unlikely to get any to ripen in the UK :D
