this is the first year its had lights on, never had any protection at all, the 7 foot cordyline in front of it got smoked in 2010, the washy has never had any problems at all

Winter 2010 was terrible, it did well to survive .

Dave quite seriously I would heap praise on anyone here in Darwin who had as lovely a tropical garden as yours to look out onto, but to think that you have achieved this in the UK...sensational! icon_thumleft

Thanks Sean, but there are a lot of plants dying back for winter, probably much as plants die back in the dry season in Darwin. The camera only picks out the major plantings like palms so looks better on the pic than in real life :wink:

I'm inclined to agree, if the Cordyline was smoked a Washie would have been at least defoliated. Mine was, even with a parasol protection in Dec 2010.
