Like mine Cordy, I have to peel the screening back and go in on hands and knees (crossbar) Its just extra work for me, its so frustrating ..

The panel closest to the camera is just a panel in front of the small fence that was there when I moved in as a privacy screen, it will be removed completely.

The fence is now in and work can start, however I didn't really consider the shadow the fence casts when I was thinking about planting. This photo is at solar noon today and 6 months of the year will get less sun than this.

Certainly shady border then. Ferns obviously come to find.

Just worked out why my Rodgersia grow quite small leaves when the parent plant is huge...I have them in full sun. Must make a note to shift them.

The problem is I have a lot of sun lovers in pots, the sun went in early afternoon today, so I need to see if its gets sun as it moves around later in the day, hopefully so, or else I will be looking at shade plants.

Reminds me of my side border, but come 2pm it gets the full brunt of the sun, don't think you'll have any problems tbf

Musa Basjoo will grow above the fence, bamboos don't mind sun/shade, trachys don't mind, etc

The border has been planted with plants I already had in pots, so hopefully they will be happy despite that many of them are sun lovers in a relatively shady border. Further research of the sun and shadows has made me aware that it does get the sun after mid afternoon, so I hope that's enough. The plan is now to have a semi-circular patio to the side of the washing line pole along the new fence, although this won't be happening this year unless I get a windfall.
