Hi everyone. I recently got a couple of gunnera manicata. I've got them in pots so they don't take over my garden! They haven't really grown but were looking very healthy until today. One of the leaves has gone bad over night. Can anyone tell me why please? Also any advice on growning them in pots would be great! Thanks, Jon.

Unfortunately i''m not able to post pictures at the moment, i'm not sure why. But no, they were repotted when i got them about a month ago in fresh compost which stays very wet. Is it possible for gunnera to be too wet / overwatered? It may just be shock from going from a shady pollytunnel out in to the sun but it's only one leaf and it was fine until now. The lady at urban jungle said grow it in full shade but everything i've read says full sun and plenty of water?

I am close to you in Bramerton.
I find gunnera love lots of water but hate sitting in stagnant water.

it could of course be sun scorch if seller had kept in shady area and told you to do the same .Although they can be kept in full sun it is always wise to slowly introduce them from shade to full sun over a period of time to acclimatise.

My large clump is planted in a natural spring but is still struggling to stay upright without extra watering in this heat...mine is in full sun..keeping in pots must be a nightmare in these conditions.

Ok. Thanks for all the replies. I think i'll put one of them in shade and keep one in the sun and see what happens. Hopefully it will get better!

The sun has been exceptional relentless this summer. I have had establish plants with crispy leaves that have been on th same postition for several years. I have watered them and I don't usually have to.

Interesting, i've moved it next to my other one now so it only gets morning sun instead of afternoon sun. It hasn't got any worse so i'm pretty sure it's going to be fine. Thanks for all the help.
