Mirimar is where we stay Jon, great gardens all around.
Some pictures of an easy short walk at around 1000M altitude
we were walking with friends one of whom was 3 weeks out of abdominal surgery, so it really is easy with a flat smooth walking surface.
Starting at the high point at Encumeada, where there is a good Bar/Cafe - Food is excellent!
You first come to the park rangers house which has a little garden

but you are soon around the corner and away

You sometimes forget that some of our garden plants actually come from the island until you see them growing in the under-story

Its not long to the first tunnel, you can carry on around in the sunshine but if you have torches and can bear to do it its worth the transit of the tunnel.

As soon as you get through the vegetation changes to almost unspoiled Laurasilva forest

No Sonchus in flower in the autumn but its pretty spectacular in the spring

The agapanthus and Hydrangea are used to stabilize the sides of the path but also make it all look rather fetching!

Lovely thing this Pericallis aurita but unfortunately it stinks under glass (was blaming the cat a few years ago!)

Then all to soon a second tunnel, longer than the first so mindful of our friends we went back the way we came.

This hen lives with her mate at the tunnel entrance, each year she has a clutch of chicks, apparently escaped from a farmstead down the hill.
