Mark, where do you keep all these. Bananas have this habit of getting big quick or maybe you didn't know that

Mine's a very short list compared with yours Mark, and its getting shorter. The M.laterita came from Easy tropicals this spring as a rootless piece of stem. It took quite a while to get going and I eventually planted it out in July. I dug it up last week (a couple of feet tall) and it still didn't have a lot of root. I now appears to be pegging out.
Is this a particluarly difficult one in you experience or is it me? :(

I forgot thoese Don

Musa Acuminata

And I forgot
Musa Monkey Fingers

Dave some of them are small but the others are kept smallish ( small pots ) in my poly

Andy the Laterita is the first year for me too. Mine came as a cut stem from J Amands £7 I also have a small one grown from this years seeds.I have just got four corms of Musa Manzano and they had hardly any roots at all. I have given them a drop of Palmbooster to hopefully get them going. Try giving it a little bit of bottom heat.

I am finding it hard now to get hold of new varieties as most of the tropical dealers only stock a few types and the phyto regs and costs stop you looking abroad.

Sunshine seeds sell some nice bananas but the postage for one is around 20 euros from Germany
