Where does the T.rex come from in the first place ? and does it have a dormant season in its normal habitat ????

After googling it seems there is more than one type of rice paper. There is the edible one made with rice and one used for art and pressing flowers etc. made from tetrapanax papyrifer sap.

You're obviously into flower pressing Bodster  .

I believe that the ordinary Tetrapanax papyrifer comes from Taiwan but I'm not sure about T.rex. Wasn't it propagated originally in the UK?

I'm really hoping that the flower on mine will open before the frosts get it. Its taking ages but the flower head is now about the size of a football

The jury seems to be out. The plant we have is too small yet to compare. But a lot of people seem to suspect that it might turn out to be basically the same.

I saw some in flower at Architectural plants last week, funny little things really not what I expected them to look like.
Mines been trying for weeks, but still looks nowhere near ready yet compared to the AP ones

Thanks for the pictures Steve. I now know what to expect or more likely what might have happened had it started a bit earlier.

And in the province of Friesland in The Netherlands a 2 meter tall Tetrapanax papyfera 'Steroidal Giant' has survived temperatures of minus 20 without any damage. It loses its leaves then but thats no problem.
That same frost in March damaged a lot of bambous in that garden.
It was ad Exoterra in Olderberkoop.

Alexander
