alocasia help please

Hi can sombody please tell me how to get alocasia tubors started ?Iv had them in the green house in multi purpose compost for a month and nothins happening!!!!.Am i doing somthings wrong?Thanks..dazghgb

Heat, and lots of it i think....

they need temps of 25c to get going

mine were dormant and after a week at 25 - 30 they were shooting , and now have quite a few new leaves going

Daz, Alocasia are a lot harder to start than Colocasia. Collies will start in just room temps but Allies need HEAT

Once they are going they are ok in more normal temps. :wink:

Oh dear sorry guys i meant colocasia :oops: .So if i planted then in a pot in the heated prop that should get them going?

There are quite a few topics already on starting these, but basically the safest method is to not pot up until it has sprouted. If it has no roots, it needs virtually no moisture. Keep in warmth until it sprouts then pot up and keep only just moist until leaf growth starts. :wink:
