OT -Tour de France Cycle Race visits Hardy Tropicals 8th Jul

Post by Dave Brown »

Totally off topic, but may be useful information to anyone trying to drive through, or around Kent on the 8th July 2007. The Tour de France Cycle Race will be snakeing it's way around London, and Kent. Sounds good you may say, but there are to be a large number of roads closed, and In my area for 19 hours, from midnight to 19:00 on the 8th  I will be trapped as the race route is just 300 yards from me.

If anyone is planning to travel to, or around Kent on Sunday 8th July, they should check for road closures.

For map of route Small size visit: http://www.hardytropicals.co.uk/gallery ... p.jpg.html

For a larger map of route visit:

For the Tour de France website. Ignore that this does not mention Kent. I covers Kent.

Mixie, I would certainly write to the council asking how you can get to work, and if you can't, can they write to your empolyer and offer compensation. Tne Council has agreed to this as it will bring £37M in revenue, but how much is it costing? There is talk about marshials stopping people crossing roads.

My son might have needed to get to work also. We discussed the possibility of him staying with the In Laws on thew 7th as they live the right side for him to get to work, but fortunately he has arreanged holiday and is staying with friends that weekend. :)

If you live and work north of the route you are ok, or if you live and work south, but if you need to cross the route or travel along it you are stuffed. :? Your area is worst affected as is meanders around Medway.

I wonder if the people of Monaco feel the same about the Grand Prix. :?
Best regards
