Mine was in a heated greenhouse for 2 months before i put it outside so it had a head start, but is continuing to grow nicely.

Great garden jezza ...My P.R. is healthy looking and all the rest..Was kept indoors all winter and then to greenhouse untill weather improved. I did move it on to a larger pot maybe its putting its energy into rooting

Wet, wet, wet Stand in a try of water and never let dry out. They are fast growers when warm and wet.

 Re: Phoenix robellini Growth!!
Be careful if moving into sun after being grown indoors or the leaves will burn as have on mine this year. I try to keep it outside as much as possible but this last winter it was under cover for almost 4 months. The result is a mess, and just hoping the leaves will grow out quick enough. Leaves grown in full sun can take full sun with no problem. Just you can't move from indoors into sun

 Re: Phoenix robellini Growth!!
I forgot to mention, mine has been subjected to direct sunlight since i bought it last may, so it now loves the sunshine. I give it a 10 litre bucket of water every two or three days, unless it rains of course. I repotted it when i bought it and it didn't grow at all over the course of last summer, then this spring it has galloped away and produced 10 new fronds already.

 Re: Phoenix robellini Growth!!
re Full Stop..................... Same here! Mine is kept permanently in shade when outside tho' and always over-wintered in the house. Watered regularly (altho' perhaps not as much as Dave B advises) and fed but still no real new growth yet this year. I'll increase the watering after reading this thread and see what happens. cheers

and the obligatory chempak palm fertiliser of course. I trimmed quite a few older fronds off it in may, the lighter fronds in the pic below are this years growth... Attachment:
