Re: omg what a place :)
Not sure what to say as i know Akamba is a mecca for a lot of you guys. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, i'm thinking, mmmmmmmm. Right here goes. Went up with my Mrs and 13yr old laddo. Yes its a nice place, good quality plants but we thought pricewise a tad on the high side. We walked around the plants, found ourselves back at the start and looking for the next area to explore but there wasn't. We were surprised how small it was. Perhaps we had built up our expectations too much. For us it was a near 200 mile round trip, 3hrs driving. If it were not for the fact that we were visiting the Safari Park as well, i think we would have come away dissapointed . In fact, if i drove them up just for Akamba, i think i would have been whacked around the head with some wet haddock and had my underpants filled up with cold semolina, whilst still wearing them . Would i go back, considering the journey i have to be honest and say no. If he has a mega sale which i understand they do in October, yes to get some bigger specimens but saying that i do well with Simon at Amulree. Hope this doesn't put a downer on Akamba for those who haven't been, its just our honest opinion. If we were closer, 45mins max,yes i'd go there periodically.
