I finally found a source in the us that seems reliable but the nightime lows have been iin the 50F range for a week now so idk how it would far in the mail and then trying to get it going good all winter indoors.I might have to wait till spring to get one.I've waited this long guess a few months wont kill me

ive grown a sikkimensis from a bald corm, they dont seem to mind and i guess it saves loads on shipping too

They're not the easiest Bananas to overwinter.

SteveW has one and it seems to struggle on a heat mat here, but you will have the advantage of much higher sun over the winter months. At 51.5 degrees North on the winter solstice the sun only reaches 15 degrees above the horizon, and less than 8 hours daylight.

I never have understood that sun moon phases thing. This is a strange time in KY..sunrise is about 8 am and sunset about 8 pm.. we have had 2 days with the high temp around 75F and the night lows around 50F..this weekend its supposed to be 85F and 75F nights..it goes on like this till November up and down. I can tell a change in the plants though as the sun moves and gets cooler. seems all my green leaf calo. start throwing good leaves again while my darker ones start getting smaller.

From everything Ive read the AeAe seems like a very hard nana in general but I'm up for the challenge.. a 15 ft varigated nana with varigated fruit is to good to not try. I think I know a man with a greenhouse who would be willing to let it hang out awhile

Look what got started I ALMOST forgot about getting one of these due to the price but my interest is back 10 fold and I have been on a week long hunt to grab one of these at a decent price..and still on that hunt might I add.. let us know how yours is doing so far.

on a side note I came upon a thai website that had a DC that was varigated with gold in the leaf and a few other types with white varigation but I am hesitant to send money for somthing I have only seen and heard of once..

is DC a Dwarf Cavendish Mike if so never heard of one. They have the acuminata red splashes on the leaves which might be referred to as variegated.

didnt realise there were so many, and so expensive! think ill stick with sikkimensis bengal tiger

Yes a dwarf cav. is what I was talking about.. the ones they were selling had golden varigation in the leaves. there were also bajoos with the gold varigation which I have onle seen twice before.

well it was supposed to arrive today and didn't but I'll try to make the story short..

I was hunting like crazy for a deal didn't want to pay high prices for the AeAe.. found a guy who said he had 3 pups all varigated. I asked for pics which he sent and I said I wanted one.. he said 1 was gone already he had 2 left and would sell them to me cheap...I took the bait and said I wanted them both.. they were supposed to ship from cameroon, close to Nigeria. IDK if you all have the problems we do in the US with Nigeria and there scams but apparently this was a camaroon scam.. I sent the money with money gram ( he said he didn't have pay pal third world country I figured ok ) anyway he emails me yesterday says the plants are at the airport in the US but customs has them and for only 3 hours they will be held and if I send him more money he can get them released the usual thing they say when they do check scams. I told him to enjoy the money I sent there would be no more and I would put his information out there for other to be known.. ended up getting me for £46 so it wasn't a complete burn..moral of the story sounds to good to be true it is lesson learned. I'll pay the price and go through my trusted sources from now on.

If they can sell on the web, they can get a Pay Pal account. If they say they can't, then I wouldn't deal with them.

I know I know I even worked an extra shift to pay for it.. you know how it goes when you get it in your head you want somthin sometimes the red flags don't seem so bright..lesson learned. I'll have one eventually but I will make sure his name and things gets out there so he cant do it to anyone else
